It all started when I bought a Polystyrene Radio Controlled GWS MK1 Spitfire kit, originally as a large static model to be airported on top of my Fridge Freezer.

Anyway, to cut this waffel short, I followed the instructions to radio control it. Well I had a go and almost bort it old boy, so I dug up the old Carl Goldburg Mirage, which is a 52inch electric trainer. This is a great plane to learn to fly with, and I managed not to prang it too many times, hense it is still complete, just retired. Next plane was the C17 Bi-plane, another very stable plane in all weather, but still only throttle, rudder and elevator. Anyhow. I think I'm hooked on this great hobby. As I managed to get the hang of basic flying, I built the Balsacraft Easy street, a Very fast plane, but fairly stable. The only downfall is the metal on metal radio glitching caused by the rudder push rod, cured by fitting nylon ends. For information on curing glitches and interference click the Techincal Info. button below.

----Here is a picture of the three of them, before pensioning off the Mirage.----

At this point I decided it would be good to join a club and get an idea how model flying should be done, so early June 2005 I joined the nearby "Gaer Park Model Flying Club". A fantastic club with a great atmosphere, club house, car park, well mowed airstrip and a toilet.
The club held a Fly In day in June and was a great success. This is when anybody, who has BMFA insurance is invited to the club field for an open day off flying. Thirty-five Transmitters signed in and over 100 people visited through the day. For a taste of the day click the button below.
Well, I've got a bit carried away enjoying this hobby and to date have built 6 electric, & 4 nitro powered planes as well as rebuiling a couple second hand models. My flying favourites being the Ripmax Spitfire and the Chris Fosse Wot4 Mk3 shown here.
Christmas Pressy 2005 brought me a YT International Extra 300S, intended for a 36 - 40 size glow engine, but this one has an Axi 2820 motor driven by a 45A ESC. Flies well, very aerobatic and precise.
Here's a photo before my Maiden Flight of 35 minutes using a 6000mA 11.1V Li-po Pack. On the right is my High Wing Trike nitro plane, the Galaxy Gazelle running on an Irvine 40 for those lazy flying days.
End of Feb & i've bought a 2nd hand 46 Sizes Sukhoi SU31, the undercarriage kept snapping away so rebuilt the front end a lot sturdier & heavier and was able to remove the lead weights from the nose. The plane's a great flyer, but I need a larger tank as 10minutes just isn't enough. March 2006 has arrived and whilst dad was spring cleaning he came across his half completed Mike Reeves Gangster and a nearly complete Crescent Bullet. I made the finishing touches to the Bullet and it is pictured below right.

Well due to a few naff weather days in June 2006, I spent some time renavating Spitfires. Below left is my Ripmax Electric Spit in Johnnie Johnsons MK9 markings & on the right is a 60" Sportsman Aviation Spitfire that I've converted to Electric and also rebuit the main wing so that the retracts are around the correct way. I then recovered the model in Nylon and painted it in Mk1 Spitfire camoflarge under the registration of Richard Hardy (Dirty Dick) H-AZ N3277, who got shot down and captured in WW2.
